From clay to brick
At De Rijswaard Brick Factory, we source our clay straight from the Neswaarden clay depot, right next to Esmeer Lake in Aalst. It’s a great example of how nature conservation and production can go hand in hand.
Local clay, close to home
Our bricks are made from local river clay. The depot is just a stone’s throw from the factory, on the shores of Esmeer Lake in Aalst, Gelderland.
A touch of nature in every brick
The clay is released during the creation of tidal basins as part of a nature development project. It is then transported—partly by boat—to our factory.
Sustainable and local
This process is sustainable: clay extraction helps shape the landscape while providing a local raw material for our ceramic products. Every brick carries a piece of nature with it.
