GM omnifix
When it has to be thin and strong:
PVM and GM mortars for narrow facing bricks
It is one of the emerging trends in facade architecture: narrower facing bricks with thin joints. But thinner also means a smaller bonding surface. With PVM omnifix and GM omnifix, you still deliver constructively strong work.
There is a growing trend in the construction sector to use ever narrower or thinner bricks for facades. Belgium is clearly ahead of the Netherlands in this respect, but more efficient, sustainable and cost-effective construction methods are also taking off in the Netherlands. Because that is the idea behind it: narrower bricks reduce the total weight of the façade, lead to more interior space and are more environmentally friendly because of the lower consumption of raw materials.
Premium products
Traditional masonry bonding contributes to the strength of a wall. However, with narrower bricks, there is less laying surface. With traditional mortars, this can cause problems. PVM omnifix adhesive mortar and GM omnifix thin-bed mortar are the perfect solution for bricks of 7 or 6.5 cm. Both mortars are the premium product for professionals to process bricks with a thin joint (4-8mm). Moreover, PVM and GM are virtually efflorescence-free if you follow the processing guidelines.
Important differences
Of course, there are also differences. PVM is just a little stronger thanks to a higher proportion of polymers (resins) and therefore has more structural capabilities. Think prefabricated brick elements, corner joints,, spans without reinforcement, and gluing through above window openings. And where both can be processed by piping bag or spray pump, GM thin-bed mortar is also suitable for trowel application. At Omnicol, you will find different types of both mortars tailored to bricks with different water absorption or in varying conditions, and of course in various colours.
