Bio-based Product Label

A label for bio-based products? What for?

In order to promote bio-based material sectors, the Cluster Eco-construction has launched a new label in Wallonia. This label makes it possible to:

• guarantee the fundamental approach linked to the renewable nature of materials,
• provide objective and clear information to individual consumers and
professional specifiers,
• promote the Walloon eco-materials sector,
• support future policy initiatives related to this topic.

In a context of economic development that must incorporate the fight against climate change, bio-based materials such as wood, straw and hemp offer many advantages:

• they come from nearby renewable resources,
• they require little energy to produce,
• they capture CO2 (carbon sinks),
• they generate regional economic activity,
• they create local and sustainable jobs.
