On December 4, the winners of the sixth edition of the Belgian Construction Awards were announced at the Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel. These prestigious awards, organized by Bouwkroniek/Batichronique, shine a spotlight on projects and professionals in the construction sector who truly make a difference. This year, not only the twenty-member expert jury but also the public had the opportunity to vote across eight categories.
Sustainability and innovation at the forefront
The Urban Development & Infrastructure Award went to Willemen Infra for the transformation of Evence Coppéelaan in Genk: a depaving project that turned a grey traffic axis into a green, climate-friendly zone. The Climate Future Award honored Ark Architecten for the circular renovation of the De Leertrommel kindergarten in Opwijk, a benchmark in sustainable school construction. Carpentier Hardwood Solutions won the public award in this category for the Elia Service Center in Kruisem, which achieved BREEAM and DGNB certifications.

OYO Architecten received the Architecture Award for House Joam, a sustainable home in Louvain-la-Neuve featuring a structural grid of timber columns and beams combined with natural materials. In addition, three inspiring professionals were recognized: Sarah Flebus (HASA architecten) as Woman of the Year, Michel Vanderstraeten (VDS Group) as Man of the Year, and Lisa Notenbaert (GBN Bouwbedrijf) as Young Talent.
